The blogosphere is all abuzz with Twitter. It has been around for a little bit, but just seems to have exploded around the time of SxSW conference. Robert Scoble has been totally immersed for a while and guys like Leo Laporte from TWIT are all a Twitter!
If you havn’t seen Twitter, then it is a bit of a mashup between SMS and blogging, but that doesn’t do it justice at all…(Scoble was right when he was on TWIT this week when he said it was very hard to describe!) all I can say is go and have a look for yourself, sign up and have a go!
But as always the question must be asked: Is this a useful technology for ministry? I think it can be in the right circumstance, but I am interested in your view, so comment away!
Of further interest is the products that are developing out of twitter. www.twittervision.com which lays over posts on a Google Map, strangely enough it is quite addictive to look at. Scoble even said he was thinking of hooking up a third monitor just so he could have it running all the time!
With our focus on the local church, however this would be very cool way of people being in community with each other, the Pastor letting people know exactly how busy they really are and generally connecting with others in this connected world we live in.
your thoughts?

hi, I’m just starting to read this blog and thought I’d comment. I think there may be a place for twitter, I’m on there and have it linked up between my blog and facebook. It generates a lot more traffic because of this. As far as it being useful for ministry goes, sure, I think theres a place for it. I have found that whenever I post something on my blog which is a bit more in depth, my twitter following increases.
