When Steve Jobs takes the stage for a keynote presentaiton you can expect a highly polished and engaging experience. But what is it that makes it so?
Long time readers may remember that this topic has been on my mind since one of the earliest posts here on Digital Church. So it will come as no surprise that I am excited about the release ofa new book which may be of great assistance to church tech teams as well as pastors and speakers.
Carmine Gallo is a communications skills coach and has written a new book “The presentation secrets of Steve Jobs: How to be insanely great in front of any audience“.
This stuff is important for Pastors and tech team as we ‘compete’ with the modern day culture. In not many environments are people expected to sit and be focussed through a 30+ minute monologue and absorb it all. Perhaps there are some lessons here? You can let us know in the comments!
You can read a summary of the book on Business week.
But here are the main points:
Here’s a video of the author speakling about this new book:

A quick appology for the hiatus from writing. Baby number 2 arrived in July and live prior to and since has been pretty hectic, including moving house with a 6 week old baby (I do not recommend this).
If you still have the feed running, I’m glad that you have stuck around!
Look forward to reviews, thoughts and actions, and your interaction
Cheers,
Darren
Ceri Longville, a student at Redcliffe Bible College in Gloucester UK, has just published her college dissertation on church websites.
Having been a church webmaster for five years, Ceri saw the clear need for research. She says, “While working as web developer of a church website, I could see the potential for it to be used as a tool to make the church more accessible and relevant to the non-Christian/unchurched folk in the local community.”
Her ‘Reaching the Community with Church Websites’ is a valuable insight into the potential for making church sites truly ‘outsider friendly’. Very little research has been published recently on church sites, as far as we know. Download this free 95-page PDF e-book, and also add your comments when you have read it:
